Titanfall is the debut title from Respawn Entertainment, founded by the co-creators of Call of Duty, who combine their skills and experience to craft a new kind of shooter for a new generation. Set in a stunning future universe, Titanfall offers up fast-paced combat both on foot, and by piloting Titans – giant, heavily armoured mech-suits that offer new ways to fight. Titanfall is an upcoming multiplayer first-person shooter set in a futuristic world filled with mech-suits and spaceships.

Multiplayer provides traditional matches between two opposing teams. Players start the match on foot and, as they complete objectives or earn kills, are eventually able to have their mech dropped into the match. XP is earned for what you do in the match with the point value popping up on screen with each kill and objective completion. Players on foot are not completely vulnerable to mechs as they can be armed with heavy weapons such as rocket launchers.

For a multiplayer-only game, Titanfall should have some amazing options and ways to play. But it doesn’t. It has a very healthy number of maps (15), but the lack of interesting new modes will make you feel shortchanged for not getting a single-player campaign. Hell, even shooters like Halo 2 from two console generations ago offer more in the multiplayer-options department.

Players, known in-game as “Pilots,” are equipped with a Jet pack when on foot and have the ability to run along walls, adding a degree of maneuverability and verticality rarely seen in multiplayer shooters. Players will also have better survivability than in similar games like Call of Duty to ease the of frustration of dying constantly when first getting to grips with the game.

Titanfall takes place in the far reaches of the galaxy where human settlers have formed self-sustaining cities on distant planets. When the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation makes inroads to secure the valuable natural resources of these regions, battle lines quickly form between a ragtag militia driven by the wish to protect the settlements and the unsympathetic capitalist juggernaut. On foot, players assume the role of pilots, highly trained soldiers that move with an agility normally reserved for superheroes. If you surive in battle long enough you can call in a Titan, a massive mech-like vehicle that moves and handles with a responsivnesss on par with a traditional shooter experience. The cat-and-mouse dynamic between Titans and pilots is the heart of the Titanfall combat.
